Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14th, 1980) is an American actor, singer, and dancer. Her career began with Broadway career performing in musicals like Wicked, Legally Blonde, and Hair. Her first Tony Award was given to her for the role of Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh has been collaborating on projects with award-winning directors as well as actors and producers throughout her professional career. Ashford can be seen next as a co-star with Kumail Nanjiani as Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It will premiere on 22nd November. Ashford is currently working on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. It's also available in the form of an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford will return to Broadway in March 2023, where he will star alongside Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production is located at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The team behind Hamilton producers Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail is at the helm of the show. Ashford appeared as Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy's American Crime Story Impeachment, which is based on the scandal which involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp during the national crisis. Ashford appeared for two seasons in CBS hit comedy B Positive. It was created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the famous Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not familiar with Broadway has won two Tony Drama Desk Awards as along with Outer Critics Circle Awards in her role in the role of Essie. Other Broadway credits include Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and her first role as Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she was awarded a second Tony Award nomination. Ashford was born and raised in Denver and is now dividing the time in Los Angeles, and New York.
